My Why
RUNNING THE WORLD
FOR MOM.
FOR MOM.
My Mom, Rose Marie, was always my WHY.
Her extraordinary strength, faith and determination shaped the way I approach running — and life. She taught me to keep putting one foot in front of the other and always keep moving forward.
Before she passed, Mom challenged me to think beyond everything I had already accomplished in running and ask whether there was still one enormous goal out there — something that almost seemed unattainable.
I called it my Stairway to Heaven Goal. That conversation became Project Sub-3:20. I carried her with me to Tokyo, where I ran 3:18:43 and made that goal a reality.
But Tokyo wasn't the end of the journey. In 2026, I’m taking her spirit around the world — racing across six continents, pursuing an eight-city Abbott World Marathon Majors sweep, and continuing the road toward my 100th marathon. Every starting line, every difficult mile and every finish line is another opportunity to honor the remarkable legacy she left our family.
